![]() I know that good journalism is under a tremendous amount of pressure both economically and politically. It is unfortunate that the money side of the operation is so shady. That is why I signed up in the first place. In many ways, my biggest frustration with this whole mess is that I like and respect the news organization at the Journal Sentinel and would like to support it. Maybe when you call them ask them to look it up by your email right away? You could try the chat support too. I haven't been billed, so something seems to have been done correctly.Īlso, I only provided my email address, I didn't try an account number or anything. Reading it a few times, it looks like they're saying you can only request a refund via email, but they didn't argue beyond their initial reply & after I sent them that, they responded that they were scheduling the cancel. ![]() If at any time, you decide to cancel your subscription, you may contact customer service at 1-84, by email at [, or click here for chat support, and the full amount of any balance over $10.00 will be refunded. Your subscription will continue automatically and we will charge you at the then regular rate, less any applicable credits, unless you cancel, which you can do at any time. I cancelled via email to [ They replied to call 1-84, and I responded with this line out of their "About Your Subscription" page (which is hilariously poorly worded, my emphasis in the email): That is inexcusable.Īt this point I am having my bank block payments, but I won't be surprised if they try to smear my credit report because of that. It has not resulted in any actual contacts from "the right people" or any contact information for who does handle cancellations.Īs far as I can determine they have intentionally set things up so that there is no reasonable way to cancel once you sign up. (And the number I am calling is on that same page, so I'm not just calling the wrong department.) Each time I've been on the phone with them, short after asking to be escalated, the call has suddenly been dropped.Įmailing customer service has resulted in reasons to why I should not unsbuscribe, explanations that they aren't the department that handles that, and promises to escalate my case to the right people. When I call their customer service number they are unable to find my account, despite being supplied with what my subscription page describes as my "account number". ![]() Despite having a page for managing my subscription, there is absolutely no option to cancel it and there are no links to anything like that either. I was able to sign up for the service on the web with minimal effort. Despite two half-hour phone calls and countless emails they are still billing me. I generally like their journalism and wanted to support them, but I had too many problems with the subscription and decided to cancel. I signed up for a digital subscription to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. Please read our Community Rules before submitting or commenting.
